Tanzakademie

New Orleans, Louisiana

2014

The Tanzakademie, located in the Warehouse District of New Orleans, will provide a venue for artistic education and performance, serving not only its students but also the public as a cultural amenity. As dance is inseparable from media and technology, the Tanzakademie will celebrate the symbiotic relationship of man and machine, physical and virtual reality, and create a feedback loop that brings artistic expression full circle, cementing its status as both a public amenity and cultural landmark within the burgeoning arts scene of the Warehouse District. My research delves deeply into the implementation of technology in architecture as a tool to transmit information and transform the spatial experience, including video mapping and projection, media facades, and data screens.

The comprehensive studio focuses primarily on building and material assembly while working within the restrictions of life safety codes as well as zoning laws. I strive to carry my conceptual endeavors through the design development process and utilize these ideas of spatial layering, levels of visibility and data exposure in my material and strategic choices.
