Inspired by the spacemaking of New Orleans oak trees, I conceptualized a "treehouse" that would provide similar functions for its visitors. An oak tree provides variable experiences - the profile and canopy of the leaves, much like a city skyline, and the knotty mass of its trunk and roots, similar to a street-front condition. I imagined my structure as one that people could interact with and climb within to experience their surroundings in a more "natural" but surreal fashion.

The model was constructed from varying shades of cell-cast acrylic. The material contrasts the materials of the natural landscape while still retaining the roughness of nature, just like growth rings on a tree, which are indicative of the harshness of the environment in which a tree grows.
